Bajaj Auto Unveils Pulsar 200NS (31-Jan-2012)

Bajaj Auto, country's second largest two wheeler maker has unveiled its all new motorcycle -- Pulsar 200NS -- in Mumbai. Price of 2012 Pulsar will be revealed during its launch in April 2012 and it is expected to be less than Rs 1 lakh. This may lead to some cannibalization of Pulsar 220 volumes depending on the pricing.
The launch reinforces faith in the company's R&D capability with introduction of new Triple Spark Ignition System (patent filed) as compared to currently used DTS-I. It is expected to improve both efficiency and performance of the motorcycle.
The company launched the first Pulsar a decade back in 2001 which created the new premium segment category back then and expects the new Pulsar to do the same over years to come. Compared to the existing Pulsar 220 DTS-i, Pulsar 200NS is lighter in weight by 7 kgs, faster and more fuel efficient.
Recently, the company had launched a sports bike 'Duke 200' from its Austrian associate firm KTM's portfolio. The company has rolled out this bike at an introductory price of Rs 1.18 lakh at ex-showroom in Delhi.
The company posted a 19.19% rise in net profit at Rs 795 crore in the quarter ended December 31, 2011 against Rs 667 crore for the same period last year. It reported revenues at Rs 4,840 crore for the quarter under review up by 21.61% against Rs 3,980 for the same quarter a year ago.
