Railway Minister Announced Various Concession In The Rail Budget (24-Feb-2010)

Mamata Banerjee''s populist Railway Budget of 2010 had kept in mind concessions for various facilities and classes of people.
However, she said that technicians of regional film industry when travelling for film production related work are eligible for 75% concession in Second Sleeper and 50% concession in higher classes in all trains.
Cancer patients who are going for treatment will get a 100% concession in 3 AC and Sleeper Class, which at present grant a concession of 75% in 3 AC and Sleeper Class
Meanwhile, she also said that a 50% concession will be given to the spouse of the correspondents extended to the companion of those correspondents who do not have a spouse, and dependent children up to 18 years.
Service charge on e-tickets will be reduced to Rs.10 for Sleeper Class and Rs.20 for AC Class. At present, a maximum service charge of Rs 15 for Sleeper Class and Rs.40 for AC Class tickets is levied.
On the other hand, there will be a reduction of Rs 100 per wagon in freight charges for food-grains for domestic use and kerosene.
On the top of this, there will be no increase in the passenger fares of any class or category of trains. Similarly, there will be no increase freight tariffs.
