Bajaj Auto Introduces New Platina 125 (05-Mar-2010)

Bajaj Auto introduced new Platina 125 and it comes with electric start and five-speed gear box.
The electric start version is priced at Rs. 36,300 ex-showroom Chennai.
Earlier, Nissan''s partner Bajaj Auto said that the small car project is going on as per the plan.
This is said a day after Nissan confessed that it has not found an engineering solution for its proposed ''ultra low-cost car'' for India.
The partners are associated to the project and to the agreed objectives and the project is proceeding as planned.
Meanwhile, a day after Nissan Motors announced regarding a tie-up with Ashok Leyland for developing a small car for the Indian market that could be priced at around $4,500-5,000, its partner, Bajaj Auto, said that this would not disrupt its own Ultra Low Cost (ULC) car project.
Bajaj is developing a compact hatchback, which is scheduled to roll-out in 2012. The development work for this ULC car is being solely done by Bajaj Auto, which includes - engineering, design, sourcing and manufacturing. Where, Branding and marketing would be by Renault and Nissan.
Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto reported a strong growth of 78.03 per cent in motorcycle sales at 2,34,623 units in the month of February.
However, the company had sold 1,31,785 units during the same month last year, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.
The company attributed the growth to strong sales of its Pulsar and Discover range of bikes, it added.
The sales of total two-wheeler during the month also rose by 77.28 per cent to 2,34,710 units from 1,32,393 units reported in the same period a year ago, it said.
The exports of BAL surged 53.03 per cent to 77,642 units in the month of February as compared to 50,738 units in February, 2009.
Regarding the financial performance, for quarter ended December 2009 the company reported rise of 56.70% in its net sales to Rs 3295.55 crores as compared to Rs 2103.10 crores of corresponding period of previous year. Further, net profit of the company rose 189.24% to Rs. 475.14 crores for quarter ended December 2009.
