At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (forex) market, the rupee was quoted at 48.11 a dollar, a gain of 11 paise over the previous close. The dealers said that the rupee drew support from firming Asian equity markets, which raised hopes of more capital inflows into the domestic stock markets.
However, the buying of dollar by oil refiners checked rupee''s gain to certain extent, dealers added. The rupee in the previous session had closed higher by 22.50 paise at 48.22/23 against the US currency.

The rupee gained further after exporters sold dollars to cover their positions, said a dealer. However, in the overseas market, the dollar depreciated against other major currencies.
