Govt may lower service tax on air travel : सरकार हवाई यात्रा पर सेवा कर कम कर सकती है : 4th March

आज सरकार ने कहा है कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय और घरेलू हवाई यात्रा पर सेवा कर घटाने की संभावना है और इस मुद्दे पर विमान सेवाओं के साथ वार्ता में हैं। केन्द्रीय उत्पाद शुल्क और सीमा शुल्क (सीबीईसी) के अध्यक्ष वी श्रीधर बोर्ड ने बजट संगोष्ठी के बाद कि सरकार सेवा कर मुद्दे पर सभी वाहक और अन्य हितधारक के साथ बात कर रही है और दर जो भी है कि इतनी अधिक पर न तय होगी कि यात्री बोझ महसूस न करे। हालांकि, वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी ने अपने बजट में घरेलू और अंतरराष्ट्रीय यात्रा पर 10 प्रतिशत की सेवा कर का प्रस्ताव किया था। उन्होंने आगे स्पष्ट किया कि सेवा कर आधार किराये पर लगाया जाएगा।

English Translation:

Today the government said that there could be a possibility of lowering service tax on international and domestic air travel and is in talks with the airlines on the issue. Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) chairman V Sridhar said at a post-Budget seminar that the government is talking on the service tax issue with all the carriers and other stakeholder and will decide on the rate which will not be too high so that the passenger does not feel the burden. However, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in his Budget had proposed a service tax of 10 per cent on both domestic and international travel. He further clarified that service tax would be levied on base fare.
