कोचीन वाणिज्य और उद्योग मंडल ने 24 फरवरी को रेल मंत्री ममता बनर्जी द्वारा प्रस्तुत रेल बजट का अभिवादन किया। चैंबर अध्यक्ष आनंद मेनन द्वारा जारी किए गए बयान ने कहा कि बजट भूमिका है कि निजी क्षेत्र के रेल के विकास प्रभाव डाल सकते हैं। इसके अलावा, किराए मे वृद्धि की कोई घोषणा नहीं की है, बुनियादी सुविधाओं में सुधार किया गया है और सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी पर जोर सबसे सराहनीय है। मंत्री ने जोर दिया कि 122 मे से 117 गाडिया जिसे नए साल के बजट में वादा किया था 31 मार्च तक झंडी दिखाकर रवाना की जायेंगी यह महत्वाकांक्षी और प्राप्य है। इस बीच, सुरक्षा के प्रमुख मुद्दे को संबोधित किया गया है। यह कहा जाता है कि रेल मंत्री किराए में वृद्धि के बिना एक प्रगतिशील बजट पेश कर सकती है। यह भी विकास परियोजनाओं में निजी भागीदारी कदम की सराहना की है। ममता बनर्जी के रेल बजट 2010 किसी भी वर्ग या गाड़ियों की श्रेणी के यात्री किराए में कोई वृद्धि के साथ एक लोकलुभावन मे से एक है।

The Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry hails the Railway Budget presented by Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Feb 24. A statement issued by Chamber president Anand Menon said the budget had acknowledged the role that the private sector could play in the development of Railways. Besides, no increase in fares that has been announced, the thrust on improved infrastructure and social responsibility is most commendable. The Minister''s assertion that 117 of the 122 new trains promised in the last budget will be flagged off by March 31 is ambitious and attainable. Meanwhile, the key issue of safety has been addressed. It is said that the Railway Minister was able to present a progressive budget without increasing the fares. It also appreciated the move to seek private participation in development projects. Mamata Banerjee''''s Railway Budget 2010 is a populist one with no increase in passenger fares of any class or category of trains.
