English Translation:
Rupee rose on Tuesday as a stronger share market raised expectations of capital inflows, but the gains were tempered by the U.S. dollar's strength against other major currencies and dollar demand from oil refiners.
Rupee closed at 48.65/66 per dollar, 0.2 percent stronger than Monday's close of 48.74/75. It had fallen to 48.80 on Monday, its weakest since Sept. 4.

English Translation:
Lower than Rs 432.10 crore on 11 September 2009, mutual funds (MFs) sold shares worth a net Rs 197.10 crore on 14 September 2009 whereas MFs' net sales of Rs 197.10 crore on 14 September 2009 was a result of gross purchases Rs 599.60 crore and gross sales Rs 796.70 crore.
However, the BSE Sensex fell 50.11 points or 0.31% to 16,214.19 on that day. On the other hand, MFs sold shares worth a net Rs 951.70 crore in September 2009 while MFs had bought shares worth a net Rs 570.30 crore in August 2009.

The markets continued its yesterday’s upward rally and today opened significantly higher taking positive cues from the global markets. The NSE Nifty crossed above the 4900 mark and the BSE Sensex above the 16600 mark in the early trade. The broader market indices also gained momentum in the early trade as both the BSE Mid Cap and the BSE Small Cap indices are now trading with a gain of more than 0.7% each. All the sectorial indices are now trading in green with the Metal, Realty, Banking and Consumer Durables stocks are fronting the rally in the opening trade.
The BSE Sensex is trading higher by 123.89 points or (0.75%) at 16,578.34 and the NSE Nifty is trading higher by 41.30 points or (0.84%) at 4,933.40.
The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 44.19 points or (0.73%) at 6,083.26 and the BSE Small Cap grew by 60.26 points or (0.83%) to 7,288.94.
The Overall market breadth is positive as 1374 stocks are advancing while 702 stocks are declining and the 68 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
