On 22nd Decmeber, Canada''s biggest engineering and construction firm, SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. announced that it has acquired Marte Engenharia Ltd, a leading Brazilian engineering firm with about 1,000 employees.

Marte Engenharia serves the power industry in Brazil and Latin America, with particular expertise in the design of high voltage transmission lines and electrical substations. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"We are very pleased to welcome Marte to the team," said Cindy Andrew, senior vice-president and general manager of SNC-Lavalin''s Transmission and Distribution division.
