Ashok Leyland reports 19% decline in December sales (02-Jan-2013)

Ashok Leyland has registered a 19% decline in December 2012 sales at 7,299 units as compared to 9,048 units, a year ago. However, it has reported 88% growth in company's light commercial vehicle sales, while commercial vehicle sales dropped by 34%.

The company has posted LCV product Dost sales at 2,069 units as compared to 1,099 units a year ago. Commercial vehicle sales dropped to 5,230 units from 7,949 units, in December 2011.

Entity's sales for the period of April to December 2012 stood at 79,990 units against 66,321 units in the same period last year, up by 21%. The commercial vehicle sales were dropped by 12%, while LCV sales stood at 23,898 units as compared to 2,700 units.

Recently, the commercial vehicles manufacturer has unveiled its new 5-axle rigid truck in Hyderabad, offering a payload of up to 25 tonnes i.e., the highest in rigid trucks thereby making it one of the most efficient vehicles in its category.
