Wipro Infotech Gets Government Contract (09-Mar-2010)

Wipro Infotech has won a turnkey project from Financial Intelligence Unit-India (FIU-IND), Union Ministry of Finance.
As part of the project, it will implement FINnet (Financial Intelligence Network) for FIU-IND.
Meanwhile, the scope of services includes development of portal, data warehousing, deduplication (elimination of redundant duplicate data).
It also includes analytical application and ERP implementation at the data centre and disaster recovery site.
Earlier, Sybase Software (India), a subsidiary of Sybase of the U.S. and Wipro Infotech had announced a partnership to extend SAP applications to a variety of mobile device types.
With these solutions, SAP customers will be able to securely access their business-critical enterprise applications while on the move.
Previously, Wipro Technologies had announced that it has signed a Microsoft Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) "Dedicated Advisor" agreement with Microsoft Corp.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Mr. Suresh Vaswani, Jt. CEO Wipro''s IT Business and Member of board, Wipro Ltd., and Mr. Stephen Elop, president of the Microsoft Business Division.
Meanwhile, it was said that Wipro Infotech is betting big on cloud computing and will mainly target the $4.5-billion SME segment to drive its growth.
The Wipro Infotech Senior Vice-President and Business Head for India and West Asia, Mr Anand Sankaran said that the company has spun off a new division to address cloud computing business.
On the other hand, Wipro Infotech, the domestic arm of Wipro Technologies had bagged a Rs 100-crore IT contract from Punjab & Sind Bank, to integrate its branches with an IT network and implement Infosys’ core banking solution.
The contract was earlier awarded to Satyam, which failed to deliver on time, resulting in the contract getting dissolved.
