Wipro’s Arm Chosen By Ministry Of Home Affairs To Develop Core Software For CCTNS (02-Aug-2010)

Wipro Infotech, the India, West Asia and Africa business arm of Wipro has been selected as the Software Development Agency (SDA) at the Center for the prestigious Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System (CCTNS) project, a mission mode project under NeGP, one of India’s largest e-governance projects till date.
CCTNS, conceptualized by the Ministry of Home Affairs, aims to create a nation-wide networked infrastructure for the evolution of IT-enabled and state of the art, criminal tracking system. It will span across all 35 states and union territories and electronically link over 14,000 police stations and 6,000 higher police offices across the country.
Wipro, as part of the scope, will develop the core application software being developed on multiple technology platforms to be used by the states and another core application to be used by the Center for digitization of crime and criminal records. The solution will also address different levels of functionality required at the Center and state.
