HCL Technologies has inked an IT infrastructure management engagement with Electrolux.

The scope of this 5 year engagement covers support of workplace services for Electrolux, including proactive monitoring and management of network, servers, IT security and end-user computing environment in 12 countries in the APAC region including Australia.


Previously, the company had signed a five-year IT infrastructure management contract with home appliances manufacturer- Electrolux.

Under this deal, HCL will support Electrolux''s workplace services that include proactive monitoring and management of network as well as servers, IT security and end-user computing environment in the Asia Pacific region, including Australia.

HCL Tech will deliver these services through its centres in India as well as Malaysia. Moreover, it will also provide multilingual helpdesk services in English as well as Vietnamese, Thai and Bahasa (Malaysia and Indonesia).

Meanwhile, HCL Tech has opened its regional headquarters for the Middle East operations in Dubai, UAE and this would become the hub for regional operations.

HCL would offer services across a wide range of service lines that includes product engineering and R&D, custom applications, and enterprise application services.

Moreover, HCL Technologies obtained a multi-million pound, five-year infrastructure management and transformation order from News International.

The company produces some of the U.K.''s most widely read newspapers including The Times, The Sun and The Sunday Times.

HCL Technologies will manage News International''s data centre and network environment.

However, earlier HCL Technologies bagged a service contract worth $200 million from Equitable Life Assurance Society which will start in March 2011. It seeks to deliver cost benefits to Equitable Life''s policyholders through the transfer of core processing and support activities required to run its closed book of business.

Further, HCL Technologies will offer enterprise resource planning solutions to the Middle East-based Sahara Petroleum Services and with the implementation of the software, Sahara Petroleum hopes to integrate its business processes and standardize systems and controls.

In addition, HCL Technologies won over $350-million contract from Reader''s Digest this year for managing the publisher''s desktops and servers and sees several $100-million infrastructure outsourcing deals in the pipeline.

Meanwhile, it has been named to the prestigious FinTech 25 ranking of the top global technology providers to the financial services industry for the first time.

On the other hand, it also announced that it has unveiled a new suite of next-generation data center services where the new suit consists of managed storage service, managed back service, offsite-vaulting services, virtualization as a service, cloud services for testing and development environment, disaster recovery and mainframe management services.

HCL Technologies Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 2554.40 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2009 as compared to Rs 3980.10 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2008. Total Income has decreased from Rs 14304.60 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2008 to Rs 12592.20 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2009.

Moreover, on consolidated basis the Group has posted a net income of $ 63.8 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2009 as compared to $ 76.6 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2008. Revenues has increased from $ 507.0 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2008 to $ 651.7 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2009.
