Areva Bags Rs 400 Crore UP Power Project (12-Mar-2010)

Areva T&D India, the energy transmission and distribution company has bagged a contract worth Rs 400 crore from Uttar Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation in order to build a substation.
Areva T&D said that its transmission and distribution division will build a 765 KV extra high voltage substation at Anpara thermal plant in Uttar Pradesh.
The project is scheduled to complete by 2011 end.
The new substation would result in enhancing the power transfer capacity from eastern UP to western part of the state.
According to Areva T&D''s Systems Business Executive Vice President Michel Augonnet, the company believe that the extra high voltage segment is poised for rapid growth and its strong partnership with Indian state utilities puts Areva T&D in a powerful position in order to capitalise on the emerging opportunities.
Areva T&D is currently trading at Rs.283.8, up by 1.59%.
The stock hit an intraday high of Rs.284.8 till now, as against the 52-week high of Rs.386.The stock hit a low of Rs.280.25 during the day. The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs.168 on March 12, 2009.
The stock opens at Rs.280.9 at BSE. The total traded volume of the scrip on BSE till now stood at 56874.
Meanwhile today, the BSE Sensex is trading up by 59.54 points, or 0.35% , at 17227.5 on 9:31 AM.
The NSE Nifty is trading up by 14.60 points, or 0.28% , at 5148.
AREVA T&D has an equity capital of Rs 47.82 crore as of 2009 Dec. The face value per share is Rs 2. At the current price of Rs 283.8, the P/E multiple stood at 35.3495728411667 with book Value of 38.30 and P/BV at 7.41.
The total shareholding pattern of the company as on Dec 2009 stood at Promoters- 72.18%, Institutional Investors- 11.82%, General Public- 12.30% and other investors- 3.71%.
Considering the current price of Rs. 283.8 at 9:31:00 AM , the stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 12/03/2010 surged 5.94% as compared to the Sensex''s return of 8.2% and NSE Nifty''s 8.2 % returns.
