Haryana government has made 96% payment amounting to Rs 8,586 crore for wheat to farmers, as per information provided by Haryana Food and Supplies Minister Ram Bilas Sharma. The government procurement agencies has purchased around 63,26,064 metric tonnes of wheat up to May 6 at minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 1,450 per quintal despite the luster loss or value cut.
Over 18.72 lakh MT of wheat had been procured by the Food and Supplies Department, over 27.50 lakh MT by Hafed, over 6.57 lakh MT by Haryana Agro, more than 10.40 lakh MT by Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 5,800 MT of wheat by Confed.
The state government had earlier announced a compensation of Rs 1,092 crore for crop loss due to unseasonal rains and hailstorm which lashed the state in March/April resulting in heavy crop damage. This compensation is being disbursed smoothly in the entire state.
