Government estimates 320 LT of wheat procurement during RMS 2018-19

The Government has fixed procurement target for Rabi Marketing Season (RMS) 2018-19 as 320 lakh tonnes (LT). In consultation with the states, it has been decided to keep an estimate of 320.00 lakh MT of wheat procurement during RMS 2018-19. The government has also fixed the Paddy/Rice procurement estimated at 55 LT for Rabi crop in Kharif Marketing Season 2017-18.

The states have been requested to increase number of procurement centres to make proper arrangement of logistics and give wide publicity to MSP and FAQ and ensure quick payments to farmers for their produce.

Recently, India had imported 50.8 LT of pulses for Rs 17,280 crore during April-December period of this fiscal.
