Turmeric futures trade lower on rise in arrivals

Turmeric futures traded lower on NCDEX, due to increased selling by speculators taking off the prevailing profits followed by decline in exports and domestic demand, amid increased acreage of turmeric in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra. Moreover, reports that during the October, arrivals of turmeric have been higher at 12,478 t (Vs 10,978 t) comparing last year, also dragged the prices further.

The contract for December delivery was trading at Rs 6484.00, down by 0.52% or Rs 34.00 from its previous closing of Rs 6518.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 13195 lots.

The contract for April delivery was trading at Rs 6740.00, down by 0.68% or Rs 46.00 from its previous closing of Rs 6786.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 10525 lots on NCDEX.
