Turmeric futures trade higher on shortage of rainfall

Turmeric futures traded higher on NCDEX due to withering of standing crop as a result of shortage of rainfall and depletion of groundwater levels. Further, expectation of improvement in upcountry and export demand added upside.

The contract for April delivery was trading at Rs 6636.00, up by 2.69% or Rs 174.00 from its previous closing of Rs 6462.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 2685 lots.

The contract for May delivery was trading at Rs 6722.00, up by 2.94% or Rs 192.00 from its previous closing of Rs 6530.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 15250 lots on NCDEX.
