Jeera futures trade up on strong demand

Jeera futures traded up on NCDEX, due to frantic buying by stockists and retailers at current lower rates coupled with strong demand from domestic and export markets. However, increase in acreage of cumin, on reports of providing water in canal for irrigation by government of Gujarat, capped some gains.

The contract for December delivery was trading at Rs 18455.00, up by 0.79% or Rs 145.00 from its previous closing of Rs 18310.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 1566 lots.

The contract for January delivery was trading at Rs 18750.00, up by 0.43% or Rs 80.00 from its previous closing of Rs 18670.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 3000 lots on NCDEX.
