Gold futures trade lower on MCX

Gold futures traded lower on MCX as participants trimmed their holdings on the back of a weak trend overseas as the dollar firmed on worries over a potential new trade action from the US against China and expectations of a US interest rate increase this month by the Federal Reserve.

The contract for October delivery was trading at Rs 30593.00, down by 0.40% or Rs 122.00 from its previous closing of Rs 30715.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 9127 lots.

The contract for December delivery was trading at Rs 30810.00, down by 0.46% or Rs 141.00 from its previous closing of Rs 30951.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 3706 lots on MCX.
