Gold futures end slightly lower ahead of US elections

Gold futures ended slightly lower on Monday, as investors went cautious ahead of US congressional elections. However, the yellow metal is holding above $1,230 an ounce for a third straight session as weakness in dollar index provided some support to the bullion.

Gold futures for December delivery settled down $1, or 0.1 percent, at $1,232.30 per ounce, on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot was down 0.1 percent at $1,230.76 per ounce.
