Gold futures end lower on Thursday

Gold futures ended lower on Thursday, under pressure from upbeat US data in the run-up to a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Friday that will be watched for clues on monetary policy. Market players are hoping Yellen will give a clearer signal on the path of US interest rate hikes when she addresses a meeting of central bankers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Gold futures for December delivery declined $5.10 or 0.4 percent to settle at $1,324.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. While, spot gold was down 0.1 percent to $1,322.26 an ounce.
