Cotton futures exhibit mixed trend on MCX

Cotton futures showed mixed trend on MCX as October contract edged lower as country's cotton production is expected to increase by 3.8% in 2016-17 from a year ago, owing to a sharp growth in yield following a good monsoon while, November contract edged higher on rising demand from traders and stockists at the spot market.

The contract for October delivery was trading at Rs 19030.00, down by 0.05% or Rs 10.00 from its previous closing of Rs 19040.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 428 lots.

The contract for November delivery was trading at Rs 18380.00, up by 0.16% or Rs 30.00 from its previous closing of Rs 18350.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 3591 lots on MCX.
