Cotton futures edge lower on weak demand

Cotton futures edged lower on MCX amid weak domestic as well as export demand at the spot market. Besides, reports of improvement in acreage in major producing regions also fuelled the downtrend.

The contract for October delivery was trading at Rs 22710.00, down by 0.35% or Rs 80.00 from its previous closing of Rs 22790.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 3859 lots.

The contract for November delivery was trading at Rs 22480.00, down by 0.35% or Rs 80.00 from its previous closing of Rs 22560.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 2351 lots on MCX.
