Cotton futures edge lower on weak demand

Cotton futures edged lower on MCX due to weak demand from traders and stockists at the spot market. Though, some losses were capped on expectation of lower acreage in the country in next season.

The contract for May delivery was trading at Rs 20860.00, down by 0.29% or Rs 60.00 from its previous closing of Rs 20920.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 8698 lots.

The contract for June delivery was trading at Rs 21140.00, down by 0.28% or Rs 60.00 from its previous closing of Rs 21200.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 1002 lots on MCX.
