Cotton futures decline on muted demand

Cotton futures declined on MCX due to muted demand from traders and stockists at the spot market. Though, anticipation of lower production from major producing belts due to pest attack, capped some losses.

The contract for April delivery was trading at Rs 20510.00, down by 0.44% or Rs 90.00 from its previous closing of Rs 20600.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 1270 lots.

The contract for May delivery was trading at Rs 20830.00, down by 0.33% or Rs 70.00 from its previous closing of Rs 20900.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 7965 lots on MCX.
