Copper futures end higher as dollar weakens

Copper futures ended higher on Tuesday as the dollar weakened for a third day, helping boost metals by making them cheaper for buyers holding other currencies. The copper market is also benefiting from reports showing Chinese concentrate imports hitting a monthly record. China's imports of copper concentrate rose to 1.93 million tonnes in February, representing a 25% increase from the same time a year ago. On an annualized basis concentrate imports are set to come in way above the record set in 2018 of 1.97 million tonnes.

Copper futures for May delivery rose 0.95 percent to settle at $2.9285 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange ended up 1 percent at $6,472 a tonne.
