The global coffee exports rose for the second straight month and stood at 9.21 million bags in the month of November 2012 witnessing a rise of 16.87%, as per the report compiled by the International Coffee Organization (ICO). The worldwide shipments of the brewed beverage stood at 7.88 million bags (of 60 kg each) in the same month in 2011.
The global coffee shipments stood at 8.88 million bags in October 2012 an increase of 17.30% compared to 7.57 million bags in October 2011. The crop year for coffee runs from October to September period. During October-November month of the 2012-13 crop year the total exports of the brew were up by 21.22% and stood at 18.73 million bags as compared to 15.45 million bags during the same period of the 2011-12 coffee year.
Besides, on back of increase shipments from Vietnam, Indonesia, Mexico and among others, the global coffee exports in 2011-12 crop year, rose by 2.96% and stood at 107.8 million bags compared to 104.7 million bags in 2010-11 crop year. For the current crop year, ICO has pegged the global production of the brew to rise by 8% to 146 million bags compared to 134.6 million bags in the year-ago period.
