At the auction of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association, a volume of 15.08 lakh kgs will be offered for Sale, which is to be held on Thursday and Friday as well.

Out of the 15.08 lakh kg on offer, 10.23 lakh kg belongs to the leaf grades while 4.85 lakh kg belongs to the dust grades. Moreover, out of the total quantity on offer, CTC variety includes 14.19 lakh kg, while 0.89 lakh kg belongs to orthodox variety.
Meanwhile, the proportion of orthodox teas in both the leaf and dust grades continues to be low. Moreover, in the leaf counter, only 0.38 lakh kg belongs to orthodox while 9.85 lakh kg, CTC. Among the dusts, only 0.51 lakh kg belongs to orthodox while 4.34 lakh kg, CTC.
Moreover, out of the 15.08 lakh kg, the fresh arrival stood at 10.86 lakh kg and this is more due to 49 per cent increase in Nilgiri tea production in January.

The withdrawal of about 30 per cent of the offer every week was due to the absence of any specific marketing initiative to activate demand. Meanwhile, as much as 50 per cent remained unsold last week.
