BT Cotton Seeds Businesses Targeting Earnings Of Rs 700 Crore This Season

BT Cotton seeds organizations are targeting earnings of Rs 700 cr this season as a result of a rise in seeds rates. The month-long tussle in between BT Cotton seeds organizations and the Maharashtra Govt over prices of cotton seed have resulted in support of cotton seeds organizations.

Initially, the Maharashtra Govt continued to wait for Gujarat as well as AP Govt to consider a call on cotton seeds rates. A week ago upon telling that Maharashtra Govt won`t raise the rates, seed organizations suggested that they could offer for sale its cotton seeds to states which may get them better rates.

After this the cotton seed rates which are stored flat during the last 3 years by the govt were permitted to up-date their rates. The Bollgard I as well as Bollgard II seeds can be traded for Rs 830 each bundle and Rs 930 each packet rather than Rs 650 each packet as well as Rs 750 each packet correspondingly.

For the earlier year the cotton plot was at 39 lakh hectare and seed need of their state was 1 .40 cr packets. This season, the region is predicted to increase to 45 lakh hectare and therefore the state will require around 1.80 cr packets. Converting this with the rate enhance of Rs 180 each packet, it will produce Rs 324 cr to seed businesses on selling of BT cotton seeds in Maharashtra alone.
